Illinois State University has had a long involvement with Intercollegiate Bowling, participating for over 30 years. The Bowling Team travels throughout the United States to compete in various tournaments and competitions in hopes of ultimately advancing to College Bowling USA’s National Intercollegiate Bowling Championships. We are proud of our accomplishments and we hope that you want to be a part of our future.
The main campus is located in Normal Illinois, which is 135 miles southwest of Chicago and 160 miles northeast of St. Louis. The Twin Cities of Bloomington-Normal have a population of over 100,000 people. Yearly enrollment at Illinois State University is over 20,000 students. The main campus is fairly condensed, making walks between classes easy. The Bowling Teams practice facility is the Bowling & Billiards Center (BBC) located north of the Bone Student Center. The BBC has 10 Brunswick Pinsetters with synthetic lanes and Brunswick Automatic Scorers.
Tryouts for the Illinois State University Men’s & Women’s Collegiate Bowling Teams will be held on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7 at 9 a.m. sharp. Bowling will begin on Wednesday nights at 8:45 p.m. SHARP. You must check in by 8:30 p.m. You will bowl a predetermined series of games.
The Tryout fee is $68.00, which includes your bowling fees for the Fall Semester in the Redbird Classic League and is not refundable. After you have paid the tryout fee, you will be able to practice for 50¢ a game anytime until September 11.
Tryouts will include your league scores from the first and second weeks of Redbird Classic League and participation on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7. Teams will be selected based on performance, attitude, sportsmanship, experience, and the on-the-lanes behavior of all the tryout participants. The Men’s and Women’s Team will consist of 8-10 members each.
